On the day of his 97th birthday Harvey scheduled a routine exam with his family doctor. Once the exam was over the doctor sat down and reviewed all of the results with Harvey.
“Harvey after seeing these results I must say you’re in better condition than I am and I’m 50 years younger than you. What’s your big secret?”
Harvey replied, “You know Doc, I do walk seven miles a day.”
“You still walk all seven miles each day” the doctor asked?
“Yes indeed,” said Harvey. “I’ve been walking at least that far each day of my life since I was about your age.”
The doctor replied, “That’s about 50 years now. That’s very impressive. I wish all my patients were that dedicated to exercise. But I do have one question for you.”
“What’s that doc?”
“What if it’s raining when you go to start your walk?”
Harvey turned his head back towards the doctor as he reached the office door to leave and answered; People say I’m crazy. But if it’s raining, I just get wet.”
MORAL OF THE STORY: Excuses will never allow us to command our inborn power. We must do what needs to be done no matter what even if other people think we’re CRAZY.
Doing so will greatly enhance our chances of living as the most complete version of ourselves even when we’re 97 years old.
