How To Go On Spring Break In College Now

Let’s get right to the point here; spring break is one glorious week in which to unabashedly celebrate being young and in college.

In fact, going on a college spring break trip should be a mandatory part of the college curriculum, just like paying tuition and taking classes.

The importance of experiencing the freedom and excitement of a spring break trip is absolutely essential to the proper development of a well rounded college student.

The reason that going on at least one spring break trip is essential for all college students is that each of us lives with an invisible countdown clock tied around our neck.

This countdown clock relentlessly ticks off the days each of us has left to have completely unadulterated college-aged fun. It’s not great to dwell on, but it’s true.

Pretty soon college will be over and so will our opportunities to have college-aged fun; and enjoying a spring break trip is the pinnacle of college-aged fun.

Now, considering our invisible countdown clock is actively ticking away our days left as college students, we must ask ourselves; “What reason could I possibly have that will prevent me from going on a spring break trip?”

After asking that question, here are the two main reasons to keep in mind which students face for NOT going on a spring break trip.

Reason #1: Spring Break Vacations Cost Too Much

The most popular reason students face for not going on a spring break trip is that they are too expensive. This reason does make a lot of sense, because spring break trips can be costly.

However, whenever any student is faced with this reason for not going on a spring break trip they must ask themselves the following question: “When I’m 40 years old what am I going to value more; the money I saved years ago by not going on a spring break trip, or the great times I had enjoying the pinnacle of college-aged fun while I had the chance?”

That question is the core of how to go on spring break.

Reason #2: I’m Not Allowed To Go On A Spring Break Vacation

This reason is more complicated than just dealing with money.

However, when we get right down to it we shouldn’t let someone else cause us to miss out on experiencing a spring break trip.

The window we have in life to go on a college spring break trip is very small, so we need to take advantage of it if at all possible.

If our boyfriends, girlfriends, parents, bosses, or anyone else tries to block us from going we need to take the situation very seriously.

The reason we need to take it very seriously is because people who let others make their decisions for them end up lying on a therapist’s couch one day saying, “I feel so unsatisfied with my life.” That’s something we need to avoid at all costs.

So, if we encounter resistance from people in our lives regarding going on a spring break trip we need to read them the following message: “Why don’t you want me to experience this adventure while my window for college-aged fun is still open?”

If they say their real problem revolves around safety concerns; simply tell them you will be very careful, and remind them that thousands upon thousands of students return from spring break trips safe and sound every year.

Once everything has been said and considered we’re each left with three choices about going on a spring break trip. Those choices are:

Spring Break Trip Choice #1: Cut loose, find a beach and yell, “I’m just doing it, I’m going on a spring break trip.”

Spring Break Trip Choice #2: Skip the spring break trip and spend the rest of our lives wondering how great it might have been.

Spring Break Trip Choice #3: Wait until years later to go on a spring break trip after our window for college-aged fun has closed and end up disappointed in ourselves.

* Action Step *

Write down your two ideal spring break trip destinations. Then, write down the main reason as to why you can’t, or won’t, go on a spring break trip.

Next, re-read your reasons as to why you can’t, or won’t, enjoy your dream spring break trip.

Finally, record how you may feel about those reasons in ten years. Will you feel regretful for allowing those reasons to stop you? Will you wish you could go back and make different choices?

Answer honestly, because this exercise will help you look past your current state of mind and allow you to make positive choices from your own future.
